Roles and Responsibilities

All staff should be very clear about who will be involved in an incident response, and what their duties will be. You may wish to:

nominate an incident response team leader
identify key roles and who will fill them
define the responsibilities of each role
it is recommended to include names of staff members when developing an evacuation or emergency plan

Responsible staff members, and their back-ups, should understand their responsibilities and be given appropriate training when required.

Please be aware that if your incident is an emergency, you still have responsibilities after you call 000 and after the emergency services leave the site of the incident. This includes the safety of the site of the incident, a debrief with staff members following the event and the completion of an incident report.

Contact Lists

Create an internal contact list for staff member details, should they need to be contacted in an emergency. This may be to seek assistance, or to check on their location and wellbeing.

An external contact list should include key contacts and services (including emergency services) who you may need to call in the event of an incident.
